My girlfriend is having a problem with her screen turning off on her. When quitting apps like Photoshop or Lightroom, the screen goes black and the only way to get the screen to turn back on is by doing a hard restart. This happened to me twice today within 10 minutes. When the screen is black, I can still increase the volume via the keyboard and sound is still present from the speakers but no visuals.

A few weeks ago, when exiting out of full screen mode in Netflix, the screen displayed 12 or so copies of each other. In other words, it was like the screen turned into 12 screens all displaying the same image. Very worrying indeed.

She still has AppleCare coverage. Would this likely be a logic board and/or GPU problem?

Thanks.

I can advise you for reinstalling mavericks if it continues get the machine to Apple store immediatly
