Hi everyone!

As with many others, my fingers are getting itchy for a new MacBook Pro. I am torn in between the decision of buying one of the two following MacBook Pro models for a considerably decent second-hand price.

1. MBP 13” Intel Core i5-6360U 2000 MHz; 2Ghz/16GB RAM/512GB SSD - ~1282 USD

or,

2. MBP 13” Intel Core i5-7360U 2300 MHz; 2.3Ghz/16GB RAM/256GB SSD - ~1561 USD

I am currently using my fully functioning rMBP 15" Late 2013 model, with 16GB RAM/512GB SSD. I mainly use my MBP for master studies, Logic X and occasionally some gaming (WC3 as such).

My biggest concern is storage capacity and if I am going to get used to having 256GB given the fact that a considerable amount of space is used for Logic X projects. However, I am not entirely convinced if the Late-2016 MBP is the way to go when (a) comparing benchmarks with my current MBP model or (b) the slight price difference to make use of the current Mid-2017 model.

What do you think? Is a space bump up to 512GB more sufficient (Late 2016) or an overall +20-30% performance boost the way to go (Mid-2017)?

Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays! :D

Can't you just use an external drive and save money?

For sure, I already have one. However, carrying it around proved to be much more of an hassle than I initially envisioned. Thanks for the reply though!

My 2.0 GHz 13" MBP '16 handles just fine. I don't do many processor-intensive things, but I do occasionally do some intensive data processing and modeling (grad student in the sciences). If you're definitely between those two builds, I would recommend the '16 and enjoy the larger SSD and $300 to spare, unless you really think the processor difference will make or break your new computer.

Sounds reasonable, currently leaning toward the Late-2016 model for this reason.
