Hi. I wanted to ask if you guys experience the same thing. I have a relatively annoying light leakage from the right side of my space bar as can be seeing in the attached photo. Is that normal in all models, or should I replace it? The right side is definitely brighter and very distracting. Thank you!

I ordered a refurbished 16" and noticed this same leak, it stuck out to me. I ended up having to return it and swapped it with a top end model and coincidently this one doesn't have that problem.

Interesting... I wonder if it is model dependent or just some "bad apples". I will wait to see if there is someone who does not experience this with the new M1 models.

Return it. Light leakage should be exactly the same lumens left and right. Lol.. joke
It is not about the symmetry as much as it is noticeable and draws attention when using the machine. Especially when it is dark, it is quite dazzling.

Light leakage (and uneven leakage at that) is normal with this keyboard (this new keyboard has more travel than the butterfly design, which had less clearance and leakage.) And while it is hard to tell from what angle you are viewing from, yours does appear to have more than others. My first 16-inch had a good bit of this light leakage (as well as a very 'wobbly' space bar). It annoyed me a bit because it shined in my eyes when sitting the computer on the bed. I returned it to get the same model with an upgraded GPU and the upgraded 16-inch has much less leakage and 'wobble' - for that matter, display units I looked at also had less leakage than my first 16-inch as well. (I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that this has slightly contributed to me liking my second 16-inch more than my first...the vastly better GPU has most of the impact here, but not having to turn off the keyboard LEDs every time I sit the system on the bed is a nice plus.)

If this is a new computer and it bothers you (especially if it shines in your face with how you use the system), you are completely within your right to send it back, and Apple would rather you send it back than you keep it and be unhappy with it. That said, do understand that the replacement model might or might not have less.

Thank you for your detailed response. I think I will return it for a replacement.
