MBP M3 Max and Dual Studio Display XDR with or without nano texture?

Hi,

I’m new here. I have a MBP M3 Max (fully maxed out). Currently have 2 BENQ 5k monitors and looking to upgrade to 2 Studio Display XDRs. I have two questions to which I can’t get clear answers anywhere-
1. Does my MBP support 120hz for both monitors? AI seems to say no, but I watched a YouTube video which clearly said yes. So I’m not sure. Apple’s website does not explicitly call out M3 Max.
2. I’m a professional programmer, so deal with a LOT of text and websites. Does anyone have a photo of how the screens look with and without nano for say VS Code or equivalent? All the videos I’ve seen seem to be talking about glare in videos typically. No one has gone into detail around the text fuzziness at smaller fonts. I will be using the monitors in my home office, so I can control the lights. But would prefer nano if I don’t need to shut my window (large side window, a little away from my monitors).

Thank you very much! Your replies will help me make an informed decision as where I’m purchasing, Apple has a NO refund policy (kind of lame). And they don’t have both the displays in stock in their store for me to compare side by side.

I feel like it should work - if the M3 Max will do 3x 6k@60 over Thunderbolt, it seems like 2x 5k@120 should be possible. Really irritating that Apple doesn't spell this out anywhere - they really need to revise the spec sheets for what each chip supports to spell out exactly what users can expect.

I don’t think it will… from Studio Display XDR specs “Mac models with M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2, and M3 support Studio Display XDR at up to 60Hz. All other Studio Display XDR features are supported.”

M3 Max, I think, has Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 5 is required for 120Hz

Q2 hasn't really gotten a direct answer yet. I've been running a Studio Display XDR with nano on my Mac Studio for about six months — motion graphics is the day job but I spend plenty of time in VS Code and the terminal too. At normal viewing distance (~25-30 inches), 14pt code is sharp, no fuzz I can pick out. Where you do notice it is at smaller sizes (10-11pt) and when you lean in close, more like 18 inches. The grain shows more against solid white backgrounds than dark ones, so if you mostly use a dark VS Code theme at a normal desk distance, nano basically disappears day-to-day and the glare reduction is a real win for a home office where window light shifts. If you sit close and read tiny text on white backgrounds all day, standard glass.
