Hey guys.
I own a Mid 2010 13" MBP. (7.1 model).

I was working with it right now, and I took my iPhone to look some stuff up.
I then put the iPhone on the MBP right here (see attached image) and suddenly the screen went off. I assumed it was the computer saving battery.

Well, I then took my iPhone and put it into my pocket again, turned on the screen and continued working. I then took my iPhone again, put it onto the same place and the screen went off again!!!

Any explanation?

What the *****? Any explanation?

Sounds like interference.

After more testing it seems it puts it into sleep mode, not just screen off.
(Also the iPhone is inside a rubber case)

Sounds like interference.

Interference can interfere your WiFi and make it work worse. It shouldn't put your computer into sleep mode...

Sadly out of warranty already.

Take it to an apple authorised service center

Don't put your iPhone there?
I know that there are magnetic switches under there that sense when the screen is down, hence when you touch the palmrest with a smart cover, the display goes off.

Yeah, there are magnetic switches in the case which put it to sleep mode when you close. It's possible, if you have a very sensitive magnet, that the magnet in your iPhone's speaker is causing it to go into sleep mode.
