Hey everyone.

So I've got a mini display port/dvi adapter running out of my 2011 MBP, into a DVI/VGA adapter, straight into my dell monitor (http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sn...pl&s=corp&sku=128234&~lt=popup&~ck=ManRelated)

No matter what I do, I can't get my MBP to detect the screen? The display section in system prefs isn't doing anything, nor is any combination of plugging the monitor in whilst on/off, after a reboot, during a reboot etc.

Can anyone help?

Do you have gfxcardstatus installed with the GPU set to integrated? You need to be using the dedicated GPU to use an external display.

Just tired that. Tried setting it to 'Discrete' and 'Dynamic', but still nothing

Does anyone have any ideas?:confused:

You are using too many adapters. The Signal does not transfer correctly with all of the adapters you are using. The DVI Adapter you have connected to your Mini DisplayPort is only sending Digital signal, VGA is analogue.

You will need to purchase a Mini DisplayPort > VGA Adapter for it to work correctly.

Good discussion on this topic here;
