So I can't decide whether I should spend the extra dough and get a MBP or get a Macbook. I'm going to be taking computer science courses at college, and will be doing plenty of programming so a bigger screen and faster processor seems like a good idea. It's also going to be my main computer, going to replace my desktop.

Even you are asking this????

*jump off a cliff*

:p

Wait until the announcements to see what the new specs will be. For what you list, any Mac will do.

Right now, in this instance, no one can tell you which laptop to buy because they are getting updated. Try again in 2 hours and see how the new ones turn out. Check the recent rumors going around and you'll see.

General Protip: If you need or have to do heavy computing or demanding stuff, go with the Pro, else, basic and everyday computing, MacBook fits your needs.

if you don't game macbook + clickey keyboard + 24inch display>MBP imo. If you want to play games why are you getting a laptop let alone a mac laptop?
