So to the guy who put his own thermal paste on, how much cooler does it run when the mbp is taxed? On my sr mbp it hovers around 35-45 Celsius idle and on average 60-78 Celsius on heavier use.

Guys need your help pretty quick, I was about to post a new thread, but saw this thread I am posting it here.

I was monitoring my MBP heat.

This is what I get in the normal usage with minimum disk usage.

CPU 55
GPU 61
HDD 46

If I push my MBP a little with more disk usage (10 GB of file transfer)

CPU 71
GPU 71
HDD 47

My major concern is the HDD is always around 45 degree celcius, my left palm rest is always in the warmer side.

Is this common, all the post I see here its around 35 untill its being pushed.

Can you guys please let me know, so I can hit the genius.

I forgot to mention Mine SR MBP 2.2 with 2 GB of RAM, just a week old.:D

Loving it except for this, can anyone please help and reply to this please:(

I am in my 14 days period I can go for an exchange, I dont want to go to Apple if its common

Do you have a 7,200RPM drive? My drive is about 100*F less everyday.

Nope its 120 GB 5200 RPM.

I also hear mild creaking noise under disk usage.

But my HDD under load or not its alwasy 45 +

Do you think I need to hit the Apple store?

by the way, does anyone know why there's quite a difference between
GPU Diode and GPU Heatsink? are they meant to be that different?
I always notice there is always around 10˚ difference.

Found this post: excessive GPU Diode temperature?

will reapplying of thermal paste change anything?

my idle temp is around 52˚- 62˚ range.

So, I just got finished watching full-screen movie off of hulu.com. While doing so, my processors were running at about 50% The fans never cranked up and stayed at an average of 2000rpm. My max temperature:

160F/71C

The movie finished and I closed the window at exactly 7:20. Now, at 7:25, exactly 5 minutes later, my temps have dropped 25F/14C to:

135F/57C

Now at 7:30, 10 minutes after closing the window, I'm down to:

130F/54C

So, 10 minutes after closing the window, I've dropped 30F/17C down, back to my normal operating temperatures. Pretty sweet cooling if you ask me.

Lastly, the bottom enclosure never got above 95F/35C.

:DYes, I'm happy.:D

Here they are. This is running Mail, Safari, and Adium, as well as some standard background processes and such.

Guys also when you post the temperature, let us know, if its running on power or battery, and also the up time of the system and task running

Btw how should I take the snapshot of the iStat?

Putting static sensitive electronics on cloth is pretty stupid. You're lucky you didn't fry anything.

If that happened to me, i'd just return it to Apple as DOA. Apple won't open the system to see, they'll just accept it's dead and give the customer a new one, considering it's within the first 14 days.

Working as a IT engineer on a part-time bases I've taken loads of machines apart and never once had any static problems...

Generally speaking though, those anti-static-matts are for domestic users who don't know wtf they're doing, though I've seen, even with a matt and good earthing, noobs still damage stuff.. mostly physically.

Dohhhh!

Under pretty normal conditions (at least for my comp.)
