I am trying to reinstall OS X, how long does this usually take. Seems like I have a gray screen for too long now.

Did it already install OSX and reboot? When did this occur?

I had something similar happen, and was able to get around by resetting the PRAM. Might be worth a try.

If you're not familiar with how to do, shut down your Mac completely--hold the power button until it turns off. The, press the power button again and hold down the Option-Command-P-R keys down (at the same time). You should hear the startup gong twice. Release the keys, and see if that helps.
