I have my 2015 MBP in for battery and was checking the status, which is "We will send it over to service center" for the past 2 days. Wondering if the status on Apple repair site is accurate?

Well just found out that the status does reflect the current phase of repair but not entirely accurate.
Status updated to finished and will be sent to you.
Called Apple and they confirmed the online status with more info that MBP is sent back to store.
Hoping to get the call any day to connect MBP

That status is likely only as accurate as the technician remembering to update it :)

Yep that is what I was told by Apple CSR. I checked the status now and it says "Shipped to the store" where I requested the service from.

Hoping to get the call tomorrow to pick up.
