Whenever I get home I plug in my monitor, stereo and usb hub into the macbook pro and use it as a desktop. In the past i would crack open the mbp to let the heat out when i do a long encode, like say encoding a whole season of family guy in handbrake overnight for my iphone.

I cracked the lid open a few inches up because as we all know, MBP's run really hot and i was worried about the hot alu being in a space w/o air moving and having the notebooks screen so close to it.

Is this something I should be worried about? If i do get screen damage from the heat doing intensive processes over an extended period of time, would it be covered under warranty?

    Thanks,
    Joe

MBPs exhaust out the rear of the machine so it really shouldn't be a problem. I believe that with the PowerBooks it was more of a concern.
