MBP shuts off when in proximity to iPhone

My 15" MBP goes in sleep mode whenever I place my iphone on the left speaker of the MBP. Why? (They don't seem broken...but what causes this?)

Magnetic lid sensor, I'd guess. I have a third-party MagSafe-type cable (Mag as in magnetic, of course) that also interferes with normal sleep triggering on my 2016 15".

Definitely the magnet sensor - it thinks you’ve closed the lid.

As the doctor says: stop doing that.
