Hi all i just noticed that my laptop takes about 30sec for my screen to go off and about 45sec for the system to go into sleep mode after i close the lid. I never paid attention to this before. I read many threads and post about this but I don't think i have a problem with it going into sleep mode, just concerned if it should take this long. I read that it maybe due to the amount of ram i have (transferring data from ram to virtual mem). Thoughts? anyone experiencing the same?

My setup:
MBP mid 2012 15" i7
16gb Ram
500GB SSD with orig 750GB HD
Mavericks OSX 10.9.5

I think you're on the right track with your thoughts concerning the amount of ram you have (and the amount of time that would then need to write ram contents to your HDD).

The quickest way to test how quickly your machine can sleep is by restarting the machine and verifying no applications are auto-resuming on reboot (my guess is your sleep time will be significantly faster).
