For some reason, my macbook pro is pretty powerful but slows to a crawl. I don't have a whole lot of software running and it's a pretty powerful mac.

This is what I have:

Model Identifier: MacBookPro16,1
Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.6 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 6
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 12 MB
Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled
Memory: 32 G
System Firmware Version: 1554.80.3.0.0 (iBridge: 18.16.14347.0.0,0)

BTW, I've reset the SMC and PRAM, I have almost no programs on my computer other than zoom and chrome aside from the the ones that came with the computer. The fan keeps spinning loudly.

what OS version?
Have you looked at activity monitor to see if there are any CPU or RAM hogs?

I unplugged the second monitor and that works. I guess the MBP is just not good for multiple screens.

I've been having general system lagginess for a while now. Disabled "automatic graphics switching" under the battery settings and now my macbook is back to its usual snappy self. Side effect is that now the battery life sucks since it's always running AMD graphics :|. There's something going on with the software in Big Sur that isn't playing nice with Intel graphics. Apple needs to get on top of this!
