MBP stalled during todays software update

I was wondering if I need to do a "scandisk" or reformat or anything? It stalled after restarting and during installation of the update. I just hard reset and it booted up like normal.

this happened to my dads macbook air, its screwed now, going to have to format it in the morning.

Repair permissions and install the combo update just to be sure all files are updated and get applied their respective permissions.
