No...it's because there are people who would buy this product (who coincidently you would think would be upset by the covering of the logo) who fuel the perception that all Mac owners crave style over substance.

I mean this thread is solely about paying $1000 for a computer that is black and has a matte screen that may or may not be different then what Cupertino offers.

iThink it's more just a preference thing. Once again we are talking about paying over a thousand dollars for paint. Also I don't think people give Apple users a hard time, they might give you a hard time for pondering whether it would in fact be worth the extra grand, as opposed to flat out siding with logic.

well, having never gotten hands on, i wouldn't know what the build quality is. i don't mind paying for quality, but something like that i would like to see before i buy

Im wondering how they coloured the trackpad as thats not an option for other colorware mods. If it was just coated with whatever they use on the body I think it would be a real loss as the glass trackpad feels great.

To each their own, but if you are going to pay a grand more because it's black, tea pot calling something black kettle. (I know what the sang is, iThink it's funnier to think I'm intoxicated)

BTW: here is an unboxing of some of the quality

Idn, but apparently it's worth a couple of extra hundred bucks, given the difference between painting a normal one black.

thanks, the link was helpful. You know what, i would get it if i could mail in my own computer, instead of buying through them. It looks like they have the process down pretty good, you can customize a lot of stuff, and maybe when i buy the wifey her own PS3 she gets a pink one.

If I had 6 grand to spend on a computer, I'd get a Mac Pro + MacBook Pro. Forget your so-called 'stealth', I'll blast away with my Mac Pro power.

i think every knows its a cosmetic purchase and i am ok with that. If i spent the money i would still have the computer. I like the options they have, and stealth just happens to be the most expensive one. You can get a custom paint job for about $500 which to me seems reasonable.

Nope... not even close

Agree with this.

I would buy it if it were the same price as the regular MBPs from Apple, but for 6k you must be nuts.

Maybe; while it is stylish, it is also an absurd self-inulgent piece of technology; come on, Apple, you can do better than that in times like these.

I would not buy it even if I had $6,000 to spend. I wouldn't buy it at $4,000 either, I'd just go and buy a non-unibody MacBook Pro for significantly cheaper and get just a little bit less performance.

Have to say you have a point there, and I agree with you.

Cheers and good luck

I was going to check my MBP stealth, but I couldn't find it. :p

Seriously, if you must ask the question, then no.

However, if money is not an issue, then sure if you want it.

Seriously? and would you be embarrassed to take it to starbucks because then no one could see your logo? I think its comments like that, that people give Mac users a hard time. I like the look, just don't know if its worth the extra cash.

What a stupid answer...

If you had your car painted, you wouldn't want them to go over the badge of the car would you?

I has absolutely nothing to do with status.

Same specs from Apple is < $4200. That is $1800 for a paint job. I think you can paint your car for less than that.

not worth it unless your rich and can spend money on things you dont need, ive heard the paint jobs they do are not good at all. the quality isnt factory quality. but why not just get a hardcase from speck and buy a nice aluminium mbp from apple? then you have a choice of colors..

i chose performance over logo any day. Does it matter if it gets the job done and no one knows what it is? i guess to you it does why else would you list out all your apple products and apple care unless you wanted people to know. give me a break

I dont even think it looks good, but its probably one of those "you have to actually see it" kind of things.

But it's not really performance you are gaining though not having the apple logo painted...

TBH, it just looks like it's just done quickly and that they haven't put much thought into it. You will still be able to see the apple logo behind the paint when it lit it, but it will just look crap...

Hate to say it, but this is a Mac based forum, and what is wrong with me showing my pride and joy? I have worked bloody hard to get my Macbook and all my other kit and I think it's my choose what I do, and do not putup.
