MBP stolen, iPad is only current device, need help.

Will I be able to upgrade the iPad firmware without a desktop or notebook computer?

Will I be able to import my iTunes library from my iPad back to my new computer?

1. No. But I'm sure you could go to an Apple store and have them do it for you.
2. Yes. Just like you can buy music on your iPad and then transfer it to your computer.

Yes, with aftermarket software.

If it's all iTunes stuff he won't need any aftermarket software just his AppleID and choose to Transfer Purchases.

I've downloaded a few songs on the iPad, so the majority was music I had already owned

Of course you had a recent backup of you MBP, so it shouldn't be a problem.
