MBP to 1080P Television

I hooked my MBP up to my samsung LNT4061F 1080p HD Television and for some reason I can only get 1920x1080i not p. I have a RCA DVI to HDMI cable. Any suggestions?

When I open the preferences and choose display the highest resolution is 1920x1080 (interlaced). And it flickers also. I am pretty sure it is interlaced.

When you go to system preferences and choose the display resolution what is the max?

the TV is at my girlfriend's house. But if I remember quickly we only saw 1080i also and the screen did not fit right.

yeah, it does it on my LG too... I tried using switchRezX, but i couldn't get it to work that way either.
