Hey Guys

Just recieved my MBP 13 base model.

Since I ordered it Ive been trying to convince myself that I can actually afford this right now but to little avail.

Its currently all boxed up on my kitchen table.
but I have to say its tempting....... :s

Respectfully, what advice are you seeking here?

Either you can afford it or you can't afford it; there's really not any middle ground IMHO.

The better question though is whether you need it or not. Don't confuse want with need, especially if there's any question about whether you can afford it.

I'll go out on a limb here; the fact that you're questioning whether you can afford it suggests you don't truly "need" it and further suggests you've financed it. In that case, I'd say send it back and wait until you've saved up the money. (Nothing wrong with buying with a credit card if you have the discipline to pay off your balance every month and don't buy stuff you can't pay off immediately; I get 2% cash back and 1 year warranty extensions)

Yes you have bought it. It's your's now.

I'm currently using an iPod touch as my only Internet access since my Hp died months ago. I guess I'm concern is that for 1000 bucks I could have gotten a pretty decent pc for half of that. But plain and simple I love mac os compared to windows anyway.

I was in the same sort of situation you were in last week. I had the money and could afford but was hesitant on ordering because I had a new "higher" balance in my account that I didn't have before. Then when my laptop came last thursday (same as yours), I opened the box, played with the MPB and realized it was the best laptop I've ever used.

It replaced my HP desktop that I've had so far for 6 six years. BUT if you truly can't afford the laptop right now, the best thing in my mind is to return it and keep putting money aside for when you're ready.

Providing I dont have any social life for the next 3 months,I can afford it. But who needs a social life when youve got a MBP? lol:D

Clearly you need to return it and learn to work your budget before you go shopping. At the very least, ask random strangers if you should buy before you actually do it.

I think you are having buyer's remorse, but not sure whether the issue is buying a computer right now, or getting a Mac vs. a less expensive PC.

If it is the first, and you don't have the $$, then it might be a good idea to return it.

if it is the later, then most likely you already thought about getting a MBP, and you made the decision to get it. If that is the case, keep it, and enjoy it. :)

if you can pay off the monthly dues plus without surrendering too much of your other expenses, you can keep it. return it if you know in the next few months you can't afford to pay off your bills

Well, if the only thing I had that resembled a computer was an iPod, then I'd definitely get one - not sure about a MBP, though. I would of probably went with a regular Macbook - you get the most for that price.

You could also check the refurbished ones for deals.

If it makes you happy, and you can still buy food/pay your rent after this, then I'd keep it. :)

Well, I just don't think you should listen to some of these peoples comments - if you're happy about your purchase (makes you happy), and won't leave you in a dire situation, then just keep it.

Go buy a netbook. Save money for the MBP13 so that you can actually afford it.

Return it and buy a used macbook for less than half. use that as your PC and save up for a pro. Buy a used MBP later when you have the cash.
