MBP w/ external display - sleep light always on?

Anyone else experience this? My MBP's sleep light goes on and does not pulsate when I use it in clamshell mode with an external display.
 
IIRC, that's normal for MB and MBPs.

Anytime the notebook is on but the internal display is off, the sleep light will stay on constantly. 😀
