MBP won't boot after 10.4.11 update

I got an error during the update, the message just said that the update could not be installed. Even the wireless network did not work.

I restarted and it only gets up to the silver screen with the Apple logo. I rebooted several times but no luck.

What now?

Try booting from your original dvd and see if you can access your hard drive. If you can, try repairing permissions.

Did a restore permissions as well as disk repair, still the same 😕

Something else I noticed: when I quit the installer after doing the above I selected the option to set my startup drive. It shows my hard drive and the OS X version on it as 10.4.11 although the installer gave an error message that the update could not be completed?

Try an archive install keeping your user settings.
