    Hi All,
I'm looking for a solution to an ongoing problem. My Macbook Pro is unable to stay in sleep. Even with all third-party software, if I put the machine to sleep (via Apple->Sleep or closing the lid), my MBP goes to sleep, then wakes up a couple seconds later. Looking at the Console.app, I see the following:

The Wake reason is PCI, but beyond that I have no idea what that means. USB has been unplugged and like I mentioned, all third-party software has been disabled.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Ben

Could this be wake on power supply change? I vaguely recall seeing a setting shutting off that annoying behavior in Cocktail. I'm sure there's a pmset/equivalent setting for it somewhere. Also not sure how that would make sense with the error message. But any kind of power change, accidental or not, would then wake the machine.

Could the problem be as simple as dust? Mine started doing it when I left it on my bed whilst it was hooked up to the TV playing a HD movie.

okay guys i think i got the solution:

try to delete the following file:

    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist

then your Power Management Settings will be reset, feel free to configure it afterwards.

then put your macbook into sleep mode, youll see it will sleep as you expected - at least my one does it now.

    won't go TO SLEEP

My issue seems to be, that it won't go INTO sleep. From a fresh boot, after not much use, yes it does to sleep after say 30 minutes per the settings.

But, after a couple days use, it no longer goes to sleep. Is there a setting to check for that condition?

MBP Wont's Sleep - Solved: Clamp Shell Sensor

The wakup reason reported for my MBP also was "PCI". I tried nearly everything - no way: The MBP kept re-awaking several times each time I closed the display until it finally stayed asleep.

Then I found some posts about the file
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
I opened it and inside I found the setting
    Wake On Clamshell Open
    which was On

I changed that to Off - and hurray! No more re-awakenings :D

I now have to press a key after opening the display, but that's nothing compared to having the sleep mode work properly again!

It seems that the clamp shell sensor is malfunctioning on my MBP...

    Regards
    Johannes
