mbp won't turn on past white screen...

my mbp stops booting once it gets to the white screen with the apple logo. it gets the little wheel like it's trying to finish, but will not go past it no matter how long i let it go. i've tried charging it, resetting the pram, etc. anyone have any ideas as to how to fix it?

try target booting with another macbook/pro. If that doesnt work, back up data and try an archive or a erase and install.
