Hi all,
i'm going to bring my MBP18 to a reseller to change the keyboard. The first question is: will i have the 2019 version? or they will simply swap with another 2018 model keyboard?

The concern: the display and the shell are like new. Do they usually make scratches somewhere during the repair process or the thing is pretty safe?

I've never used Apple Care before so don't know how they work when it comes to repair.

Every time I've had a keyboard replaced, it's come back looking like new except for once. There was a nick on one of the thunderbolt ports, but I sent it back and they replaced the top case again.

thanks.
Do you know if they replace with same keyboard or with the newest one (mbp19 13inches 4gen keyword)?

AFAIK it may be replaced with either a 2018 or 2019 keyboard. You mentioned that you're taking it to an Apple reseller so that may change things slightly, I'm not sure. Best bet is to ask the reseller what they're doing and ask for part numbers.

They will do a replacement with what they have or can get from Apple. That is likely to be the 2019 keyboard.

Also, is this being done under AppleCare or the keyboard replacement program? I suspect the latter, which is good. Because AppleCare can have fees and limitations as outlined in your AppleCare paperwork.

yes, I’ll be done under the rep program 👍
