I am coming from a 2013 LATE MBPr and there wasn't this force stuff going on.

I find that when I "click" the pad it sounds like a spring clicking pretty loud. Not as loud as the keyboard but it feels "Twangy".

I am not sure if this is how it is meant to sound.

Compared to clicking on the Retina MacBook, I don't find the trackpad on the new MacBook Pro to be significantly louder. The sound is definitely different from a mechanical trackpad to me, almost like the sound effect of a racquetball or something. It doesn't bother me, but I enabled tap to click anyway because I was used to using it on my old laptop.

I usually do tap to click but I find myself touch the trackpad inadvertently.

Just today I accidentally sent a work email that was not finished.

If I tap mine too hard, I get the springy "twang" that you describe. I'm used to really hammering my non-Force Touch rMBP so it happens every so often.

If that's happening with average use, I'd contact Apple.

There is a new option in System Preference for the trackpad. You can try "Silent click" and see if that works better for you.

Do you mean tap to click? I usually do that, but because the trackpad is so large I kept miss hitting.

No, silent click is another option but it is not available on the new MBP's for some reason. Only the retina MacBook and last rMBP with force touch trackpad. Might not be possible on the larger trackpad? Or maybe just not implemented yet...

Even still, the trackpad is way quieter than tapping a key on the keyboard as lightly as possible.

I went to the Apple Store to try and get a gauge of how my track pad sounds. Unfortunately it was too loud and it was tough to make out

My trackpad kinda twangs when I click it too. Is this normal? It sounds like its lightly hitting the metal below it... and there is no "silent click" option in preferences.
