anyone else have some impressive boot times!?
I have a 2011 15" 2.3 ghz with the 512 Apple SSD with 8gb of Ram and boot time is consistently 16 seconds from the time I push the power button to the time everything is up.

not true, if you are in college you need a quick boot time.. some times i forget to turn my computer on before the teacher starts talking. but with a 20 sec boot time i can practically have my mac open with word right after shes done with her first sentence =).. oh and while im doing this the others in the classroom arent even on a windows loading screen yet![]()
Is anyone in the thread using this drive?
I was getting 40-45 sec with default drive in new MBP's. Not bad on the 1TB drive16 seconds for my 512 GB Apple SSD from power button to desktop. I'm timed it several times using my iPhone. Also, there are several YouTube videos with boot-times that you may be interested in viewing (ssd and non-ssd). My 13" mbp took 35 seconds with a 5400 1 TB drive.![]()
I'm in school too, your point is moot. You see, my computer is on 24/7, either asleep or running, it only gets shut down for updates and bootcamp.
Hence, boot time for me is utterly meaningless and useless to know.
Your fault for shutting down the machine in the first place, it doesn't need to be.
What about the battery?? Doesn't leaving your mac on all the time, impacts heavily on the battery lifespan???
Is it worth saving 15-40 secs per day, than the 4-5 extra months that your battery might get from keeping the mac off all night?
17 seconds.
They allow students to use laptops in classrooms now?
Boot times are rather irrelevant, how often do you shutdown your machines? I never do unless an update tells me to or I need bootcamp.
30 sec from gong to desktop.......
+7 sec for chrome to homepage......
2011 15, 2.0 with stock 5400 500G drive.....
Come on vertex 3............
Not timed it but probably no more than 12 seconds on my mac specs in sig
lolThis is like a "Who's is bigger?" contest isn't it?
Mine's so fast that the clock spins backwards when I try to time it![]()

im highly doubting you are getting 12 seconds on that mac
Rubbish until timed. My mac currently 21 seconds on 2010 OEM drive (in 2011MBP, long story), but i am getting OWC 6G SSD soon![]()
