hi so i have shiny new Acer 27" IPS 1440p monitor. I have my macbook connected via display port adapter.

at 60hz output configured on the mac it works fine. If I set it to 100hz it works for a few minutes and then the signal is lost.

The monitor goes to 144hz but the mac only allows config to 100hz.

Thanks

The refresh rate that is available to you is determined by your graphics chipset not what the monitor is capable of. I'm not sure any MacBook or MacBook Pro could accommodate a refresh of 100 Hz and higher. Probably need a Mac Pro and graphics card that can achieve that high a refresh rate.

I'd assume if my Mac allowed it to be selected it would be supported?

Even though your Mac allowed it to be selected your graphics card did not sustain the 100 Hz refresh rate for very long. Did you try a lower rate but one higher than 60 Hz? You might be able to get 80-85 Hz which will result in a sharper image than 60 Hz.
