mcafee wants me to quarantine my apple software
This is itunes or an iphone backup?
    not sure
could it be specfic apps that were backed up causing this and not the iOS software?

Uninstall McAfee and NEVER EVER use it again.

    EVER.

I don't know why this piece of crap software still exists.

Windows has got integrated virus protection, you don't need it.

Who uses Mcafee anymore? Comcast gave this excrement away for free ten years ago. And I own a Mac so...:apple:

That or at least use something good like ESET.

Personally I have Macs, so no virus protection. My boyfriend has ESET on his Lenovo running Win7.

Those are the backup files of your iOS device created by iTunes. The files are simply matching a pattern detected by McAfee. I haven't seen that before but if they are actually your backup files then it's a false positive.

If you have any doubts, upload the file to the virustotal website and they will scan it with many A/V engines and let you know if it's malware or not.

Pretty much sums up exactly what I came in here to post. You guys ever read about John Mcafee? He's a straight whack job and doesn't even use his own software.

I'm just waiting for the thread where McAfee calls one of its' own modules a virus.

    Get rid of McAfee ASAP
