I installed a new hard drive on my MBP the other day and used migration assistant to transfer from my old drive. Spotlight started indexing and eventually finished, at least I thought it had since I could access the spotlight menu. For the past two days, however, mds and mdsworker have been hogging my CPU, often taking as much as 90% as shown in the activity monitor. Does this mean that spotlight is still indexing or are these processes somehow stuck? and if they're stuck, how can I fix that? I've rebooted, reset the pram, reset permissions, reset spotlight and even re-imported my files and it just continues and the fan is on a lot despite no activity. I just opened the console but couldn't find anything related to mds. Any suggestions....I don't want to just turn off spotlight since I use it all the time. Thanks! Pete I just found this in the console: 25/03/2010 15:27:44 com.apple.launchd (0x1001203f0.mach_init.mdworker) Exited with exit code: 75 25/03/2010 20:54:25 mdworker Found source of class (null), but no such class was found. 25/03/2010 20:54:25 mdworker Could not initialize source from /Users/pete/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources/12A3382B-AE79-4216-9412-55372B58AC1B does this help?
