MDSDistantStore "bring up failed" on mounting AFP shares?

I have the following two errors in my console each time I mount my airport disk via AFP:

They do not appear when mounting via SMB, however, I want to use AFP. Any idea what these are? I think it has something to do with indexing. I tried turning it off via the mdutils method and it returned "unable to perform operation. (-103) No index".

Have you tried to go to "Connect to Server" in the Go Menu & type in the afp adress manually like this:

afp://"Name of Drive".local./

It is airport, so I am doing

afp://192.168.X.1

anyone? should i ignore it? do others who mount an AFP airdisk have this error right when the disk is mounted? thanks. i'm using 10.5.2
