Hi all,
Just thought I would let you know that after a long time messaging Apple back and forth I have been put into contact with Jennifer (iTunes and Mac App Store Senior Specialist) and after asking her if apple are working on a soltion to allow users to use their newly created @me.com email addresses as their primary apple ID she emailed me the following:
'Dear James,
Thank you for your repkly. I understand that you would like to know if Apple is currently working towards allowing aliases to be used as a primary email address.
Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.
Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.
Sincerely

iTunes and Mac App Store Senior Specialist'
Hope this helps anyone wondering what is going on with this issue.
