Media Composer 6 wont open on my Mac Pro 1,1 I keep getting this error --->

Have you looked at the logs?
Have you contacted Avid?

I recommend you do both of those since it doesn't sound like a Mac Pro issue as much as it does a software issue.

bax is right about the Avid forum. This link, just a bit more specific, is for the Media Composer/Mac forum:


Check hardware specs for MC6, to see if your Mac meets them. Check also your OS, and QuickTime versions for compatibility with MC6 (by the way, there's an update to 6—6.0.1 I think it is—which solves some bugs).
There are Mac/Avid users on this forum who will help if it's anything complicated as well.

I already figured it out thank you guys and for anybody else that needs help with this situation here was my solution ------> go to your Macintosh HD folder -> rightclick system folder -> get info -> last tab sharing and permission unlock the little lock -> change all except everyone to read and write . and it should work with no issue

Well that's not a security risk🙄
Tell them to fix their expensive software instead of opening up access to your system files. You should never have to alter the HD/System folder under normal circumstances.

I've certainly not had to do this to make Avid work on my system.
It must be something else, somewhere in your system. Have you fixed permissions? Maybe a clean install of Avid?
Why not post a question about it on the Avid Media Composer (Mac) forum?
A lot of helpful people there.
