Media player

I have a Mac Mini 10.6 and I was able to listen to radio stations all over the wold. nI try Windows Media player but it do not work on Mac.
I try VLC player but I can't make it to work.
Is there any other media player that I can use?
I'll appreciate any help.

What format are the streams in? Windows Media Player for Mac does not work on Intel Macs and MS no longer supports. It was discontinued over 5 years ago.

Make sure you have Perian and Flip4Mac codec packs installed. Google them for the links.

I downloaded Fli4Mac and Perian but I still can't get this radio station "www.amalia.fm" I use to get it but somehow, may I deleted something because I can't get it anymore. I'm new on Mac computers and I do not know the format stream they transmit.
