    Hey Guys,

I'm looking to set up a media server on my iMac. I've got a MacBook Pro and a Windows Laptop, and whilst I'm on the move I would like to be able to have access to my media content (movies, music and photographs), preferably through some sort of online page...

I assume this set up would need to be able to transcode the media on the fly in order to stream it on the other end (i.e. my Windows Laptop/MBP)

Any suggestions as to what software/how I should go about this is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! :apple:

    Any ideas?

Was thinking maybe setting up an Apache server, getting together a PHP file browser, and upload the files to that...

    Check out Plex (

It's not going to help with the Windows laptop, but they do have iPhone/iPad clients that will stream your media from your Media Server.

As for sharing to the Laptops, just set up a webserver with your media directories in the document root and you'll be able to download the stuff on the fly. I don't think that will allow you to stream, but it's the easiest solution I can think of.
