I appear to be the only one having trouble here. Everyone else has it working, with minor problems (certain files not playing, organization problems,etc..)

OS X Tiger 10.4.11
iLife '08
MediaLink Running.

Router: EBR-2310
upnp: Enabled.
Dhcp server: disabled (to allow static IPs on the network)
DMZ host: PS3

PS3:
ip address (I assigned it a static one)
Primary DNS: I assigned it the router IP
Secondary DNS: my isp DNS server
subnet mask: router's subnet
network settings: media server connection [enabled]

iMac:
ip Address: I assigned it a static ip)
Primary DNS: Router's ip)
Secondary: isp DNS
Subnet: router's subnet

I turn the Ps3 on, and medialink seems to find it, Devices show "Playstation 3 Remote Device 192.168.0.100. the Playstation however does not find any media servers

Console (firewall log) shows:

2008-05-09 00:27:06.908 MediaLinkHelper[255] SSDPServer: Could not understand NOTIFY request!
2008-05-09 00:27:09.439 MediaLinkHelper[255] DeviceManager: Notifying and discovering...

it will keep doing this.

Does anybody know what this means? Am I doing something wrong?
Even when I use the ISP's primary & secondary DNS, it doesn't work

it appears Im forced to figure this out on my own

I could still use some assistance here

Can someone with a working medialink give me some of their info so I can at least cross-reference?

Firewall settings maybe? Perhaps my security is too high

I am also getting the following error with the one in the previous post:

CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): plist parse failed; the data is not proper UTF-8. The file name for this data could be:
/Library/PreferencePanes/MediaLink.prefPane/Contents/Info.plist
The parser will retry as in 10.2, but the problem should be corrected in the plist.

i tried following the location, but after "preferencePanes/" it is just a file "mediaLink, prefPane"

no /contents/info.plist

Right click the file and "Show Package Contents" and you'll find /Contents/Info.plist.

I'd try removing the program all together and then reinstall.

Thank you. I thought it was pointing me to a dead end LoL

I will have to try and uninstall/re-install, hope it helps.

Alright, so I tried to convert the info.plist file to UTF-8

Console still displays:

Same problem with Medialink

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem:

OSX 10.4.11
iLife 08
iTunes 7.6.2

PS3 found by Medialink, web connection works on both systems - but when I try to browse the content of my computer through PS3, it says that No media servers have been found...have you somehow managed to solve this problem? Thanks a lot

Bumping an old thread, I know. .

BUT!

I did fix the problem I was having with the program. What I had to do was a clean install, after that everything seemed to work smoothly. Little Snitch is actually what caused the problem in the first place, and removing the app didn't solve it.
