Hahaha yes, sorry. I was referring to naming your computer Jennifer. I'm enamored with my iBook and all of the Apple products I own, but I never once considered naming any of them.

To each his/her own, though!

I named my iBook G4 "Teagan" meaning Poet. The iBook gets a workout mostly as a homework machine. The limitations and slow speed while on the internet help me keep focus on papers. I named my iMac G4 "Ida" meaning Hardworking. Kinda obvious why I chose that name.

That's miraculous. Those old 4200rpm drives were lousy!

They really are. I use it as a slow ass "flash" drive. If the iBook wasn't such a PITA to take apart, I'd install Tiger on the 4200RPM 30GB one and swap them if I wanted Tiger :p.

For me, the iBooks are only hard to take apart at first. After a while, they get really easy to take apart, although I do with swapping HDs was as easy as in the 2006+ white and black macbooks. :)

Still have my 2004 800MHz 12inch iBook G4 with Airport Express, its in pristine condition & in perfect working order, i use it regularly.

Couple of years back i put an 80GB drive, put a 1GB memory module this year, flies along.

Tried unsuccessfully to install Leopard recently (see other forum post), gave up in the end, waiting for a full retail black Tiger DVD which i managed to find on eBay to arrive so that i can install that.

i think its a great little machine, I can see no "practical" reasons why i should mothball it. was looking at getting a MB Air recently, but couldn't justify the expense/use ratio as i have a Mac & an iPad mini.

Hey OP, how did you get the internet page for the iBook? I want it.

And for the record, I also name my computers, albeit a little bit differently.

My iBook G4s are usually named "G-Fource."

My first iMac (2009 20" 2.66GHz) was named "Macsimus."

My 20" iMac G5(2004 1.8GHz) was named "Ultra Macnus." I even had an autobot logo covering the Apple logo for a bit.

My former PowerMac G5(2.5Quad, 16GB RAM, 2TB RAID0) was named "Energon."

I haven't named my iMac yet, but I will.

http://web.archive.org. Its awesome. I can find older PPC downloads that no longer exist and what not. Usually the archive is updated every month, so you can load up your Mac's production date and have a ball.
