I just noticed on the new "Meet Liam" ad that the iPhone 6/6s has a flat camera.. one which looks suspiciously big too.

Yup, that's a non-existent iPhone right there.

May have some hope for the iPhone 7's design, because in Apple's own video they show a no-protruding camera on an iPhone 6(S) design.

Then again, that hope is lost with the 9.7" iPad Pro. I mean what the hell.

Liam is the robot they have that takes apart old, non-working iPhones. That was the beginning of a video showing him taking one apart. Its part of their new initiative to improve the environment by recycling old phone parts.

Edit: Sorry, I totally misread the original post! I'll move along LOL.

There is no camera, it has been removed!
That is not true. If you watch the keynote again at 10:38 you will see a reflection from the glas of the iphone's camera. The phote shows the iphone at the beginning of the process not being taken apart yet.

At 11:11 you can see as well the back of the camera (inside the iphone).
At 11:13 Liam takes the (back) camera from the iphone to recycle it.
At 11:21 the camera is gone and you can see a hole.

The video from the keynote shows the internals of the iphone. Maybe someone could compare those pictures with pictures from an iPhone 6s taken apart from ifixit.

EDIT: That video was actually pretty cool.

Does the SE have the camera bump? If not, does the 6s only have it b.c the level of thinness?

If that is the new iPhone 7 design - omfg, I'm going to vomit out. Apple is lost if this is the new 7 design.

Why would the iPhone 7 look essentially exactly the same as iPhone 6/6s with just the camera bump not being there? It doesn't make much sense at all. (That's not to mention that there's pretty much no way that Apple would show off iPhone 7 so obviously in a video they themselves produced to be shown off at an event.)

Maybe this is just Apple and wishful thinking.. I remember the first promotional shots of the 6 & 6 Plus on their site, they literally chopped the camera protrusion off of the side shots, eventually the newer shots showed the bump and people made a fuss of it then.

Who knows, the 6 line might be the 'circle of life' coming back around.. maybe we're in for a plasticy clear coated back version next.. or glass? I really don't care about how many people wrecked their 4's, I took care of mine and it never broke (apart from me two toning it and having black on the front and white on the back).

Being someone who repairs iPhones for company, I immediately found a ton of issues with the video. I'll try and list them here. This is all from Apple's video found here.

1. Yes, no camera bump.
And this is a iPhone 6 body, no little "S" on the bottom. (0:05) and (0:07). And it is not some unknown iPhone 7.

2. Rips the ribbons, maybe not.
It's tearing the LCD/screen ribbons, but somehow it still has the connectors not ripped off.
Here is the connectors still attached to the ribbons (0:18).

And then here is the shot right after (0:20) showing that the plate holding the connectors is still screwed down. This would cause all the 4 ribbons to rip their connectors. Yes I know that this shot of the video is in the next scene where the camera is taking a picture of the remaining components.

3. Not just iPhone 6's
MacRumors quoted Apple, "Liam will initially focus on recycling junked iPhone 6 handsets". Here's Liam taking the sim tray out of an iPhone 5/5S/SE. (0:30)
ZRokkOt.png

And here are sim trays from iPhone 5's and 6's as well as battery cover plates from various iPhones. (0:31)

4. Doesn't actually rip the screen.
This now is related to my first point, in this shot (0:32), you see Liam holding an iPhone, but with the screen still attached but being held up in place. It is brought to a suction up that grabs the screen unit and drops it. You could assume before this the screws and plate were removed and the suction is pulling the connections off, but we don't see that. Error here is the incorrect order of the phone, for camera purposes. (And by the way, this is an iPhone 5/5S screen, not 6).

And then its funny because as it shows the screen unit dropping, it shows the LCD shield plate dropping into a pile right after. (0:36)

5. No glue tape on the battery.
As Liam very quickly suction cups the battery out of the iPhone 6, it pulls the battery right out without any resistance. Apple has used this really sticky white glue/tape to hold the batteries in place. They are very frustrating to remove. You can see the two tabs of tape on the battery but then it just pulls it out without any tape left over. (0:38)

So these were just some personal observations. Noting to freak out about, like someone said, this could of all been computer generated with some errors and typos. Overall, I just really want to see this disassembly line for myself!
And here I found someone got an inside look at Liam a couple days before he was announced! http://mashable.com/2016/03/21/apple-liam-recycling-robot/#CH_QYe3Qeqqw

SE has no bump so I guess the 6S has it because of the thinness.

Yup, it's a whole 1.5 mm thinner.. I wish Ive would give up and just give us the space again for a bigger battery and reduced protrusion. Even Samsung has acknowledged that thin isn't always smart.. it's like Apple has this fixation of fitting in a size 0 dress with all of their products

Hello!
I saw this video today about the Mystery LIAM iPhone.

What iPhone is this on the Liam robot?
What is you opinion?

Greetings,
Laura

We get these almost every year that some thing that is shown "Was a mistake" "It's maybe the new iPhone 7" or what ever. Means nothing at this point. Yes, this has been shown on this forum a few weeks ago. Give it a few more months and maybe we will see something to sink our little minds to. Not now however. ;)
