For the one who I thought was a member for a lot longer than he has been

NT1440

I coulda swore he has been a member for at least a couple years lol but in fact, hasn't been one year yet

In what ways have other members surprised you?

He's surprised me as well. He's a year older then me (I'm 16) but a lot of his posts are very informed and well written, unlike some members older then him. It's surprising to see someone of my age group with such a wide range of knowledge, and knowing how it use it to their advantage. For this, I respect him, even though I don't agree with half the things he says. :p

What's surprised me is not a particular member but the overall trend towards greater coherence/intelligence/politeness from our newest members. Just looking at a few who have posted for the first time, and comparing against what I remember from, say, 3 years ago... what a difference. I guess people are reading the rules now. :D

Good job you didn't use "that" instead of "who" in your title or you might have got some surprises yourself. :)

I think it depends where you look because I am seeing a lot of gargantuan jackassery with some newbies.

I am seldom surprised any more.

I have to say that I'm surprised by Lee Kohler. It's true that we disagree more often than not, but he's also polite and doesn't seem to let his politics decide every single issue for him.

Some members make valid, intelligent contributions but do so in a rude or abrasive way, others make their point nicely but don't hijack the thread beating their point of view to death. Then there's the others who interject what they assume are witty one-liners and comebacks with their valid arguments. Sometimes these one-liners are funny, sometimes not.

That being said, iBlue: I appreciate that you can make a point respectfully - sometimes forcefully - without being belittling.

And Lee - I rarely agree with you, but you mostly reserve dignity for those with whom you argue.

...but surprise me? Not a chance.. :D

Thanks- now go put on one of those cute Mormon missionary suits, take a pic and send it to me. :D

Yeah- you're an OK guy, SLC. :)

Not from where I am standing :p

Indeed, I don't think I have been surprised by any member for a long time now. I have been pleased by some members though :)eek::D)

BOO

That surprised me, thank you. I've been dabbling in the snarkiness and feminist slap-downs lately but I just call 'em like I see 'em. :)

Too many to say for me. I like you all and respect you all even if I disagree with some of you.

I've had my disagreements with Lee along the way too, who hasn't ;)
But Lee, I think you have mellowed a little over the past year... who knew?

Aloofman and IJ Reilly. Two really cool people who are Dodgers fans -- who would've thought that could be possible? ;)
