I have a canon sd500 digital camera.. i took a picture a cople days ago that i wanted to transfer to my computer, and every time i put the sd card into the reader, nothing would happen.. like it normally does.. I couldnt figure it out, so i put the card back into my camera and am getting a memory card error.. I have a sandisk Ultra II 1gb card. How can i fix this?

Did you pull it out or put it into anything while it was turned on? If so you might've corrupted everything on it. Even then it should still appear on your computer/camera for re-formatting...

i might have done that, but it wont show up on my computer, and on my camera it says card error.

Try checking it on a different mac or a pc. I`ve had similar incident with a sony memory stick. But when I inserted the card in the camera it gave me card error and asked me to format it. After that it worked fine

If the memory card is not recognized in the PC or it is impossible to access the data on it, the controller on the card is damaged. There is only one way to get the data back, unsolder memory chips and directly access their raw data with a programable chip reader. Software can't help, that is a physical damage! Have a look at: SD xD CF memory card data recovery
