Memory for 27" 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

I want to buy additional Memory for my 27" 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac.
Any suggestions as to what brand, etc.? On-Line website?
Also, how difficult is it to insert new memory strips? Its a snap with a PC, but Im new to iMac.

Crucial you can download a app that checks your mac and tells you what to buy.

unfortunately that scanner doesnt work for me so unsure what to buy, maybe their site is down!?

thinking of another 4gb ram as a treat 🙂

Yes should be fine. your i5 will have 2 empty slots for the RAM as the 4gb from apple should be 2*2 gb. I know its cheap, I swapped out my 2*1gb in my mac book for 2* 2gb, works like a dream.

thanks sprinter! cant say no to being able to upgrade to 8gb total for £78

yes i have 2x2gb at the moment so its just anther case of adding 2x2gb again?

also how does it know that itll work? presumably they try it out on an imac.

If Crucial says it will work on your model iMac it will work. They are very reliable. Its easy to install. Your owners manual tells you how or go here;

I bumped my i7 from 4GB to 8GB with Crucial. This was before I powered it up for the first time and I can say that it works fine.

Here is another vote for OWC. I purchased RAM from them before and they make it super easy to identify what memory your Mac can use.
