I have a 16GB iPhone 6. Over time, my apps become larger & larger. My email app is empty - I delete emails from Inbox & Trash regularly. Likewise for other apps.

I have to actually delete the entire app (email, twitter, etc.) every 3 months & download it again to free up a heck of a lot of memory. Is there another way to free up space?

I'm on the iOS 10.2.1, but it's been like this since I bought the phone more than 2 yrs back.

It's not really memory but storage space. It's basically cached and stored app data that takes up space associated with the apps. Generally speaking deleting and reinstalling an app will clear out that stored data, which is what you've been doing. iOS can even do it on its own at times when it is running low on space.

Ditto with C DM. If you ever run out of space, there's a neat little trick with the App Store and iTunes Store you can do to free up space automatically:

This worked great! My free space increased from 1.3GB to 4.6GB. Just need to be careful that the movie may actually download if too much space is freed!

I created a new iTunes account just for this - one without any payment details attached at all.
