Why don't Apple have the option of a single 4gb module?

Very annoying when it comes to upgrading the ram

Most people around here don't buy their ram from apple since you're paying a premium for it. Check our crucial or OWC and pick up some ram there. Lifetime guarantee, both offer great support and both have very high quality ram.

Definitely wouldn't order from Apple its far too expensive as you said.

Would be handy if they sent it with a single 4gb in as then adding another would give you 8gb rather than having to take 2gb out leaving you with 6gb.

If there really is an impact on performance then fair enough.

Trust me. you don't want to buy from Apple if you don't have to. OWC, crucial, or newegg have great deals on RAM. OWC even has a rebate for returned RAM. You won't be sorry if you purchase from there.
