    I'm ordering a 4GB 24" iMac.

Later I will want to upgrade the memory. Will this mean replacing the existing memory modules or will I find empty slots inside?

I believe the 4GB is made up of 2 x 2GB, and the iMac has 2 slots, so you'll have to replace these for 2 x 4GB.

    Thanks

I'll wait for the 4GB price to drop (I guess a year) andthen see what I can get for the removed memory.

My iMac came with 2GB (2x1GB sticks) and I replaced them with 4GB (2x2GB sticks) from Crucial for less than $50. They even threw in a free USB flash drive that I haven't yet used.

I suppose RAM could get cheaper than that... but by then I'd probably be on a new computer and need 4GB sticks.
