Memory/space cleanup

Does anyone delete there recent call list, Internet history, sent emails, or empty trash emails?
Will it help speed or performance if you do?
I have the old Free Memory App, but it just shuts down apps to free memory.
I wonder if that other stuff slows the phone down, much like a full HD on a computer.
