That's what I see when my mouse is over any menu item and when it's not over any menu item.

I've lost menu highlight on the menu bar and the contextual menu (via right click on files and folders)

My system is running OS 10.5.2.

Any ideas? I've already tried fixing disk permissions.

It's like my mouse has gone into stealth mode. Interface can no longer detect my cursor is hovering over them. E.g. Hovering over a web link doesn't highlight that it's a link and status bar below doesn't print the url address of that link.

Last thing I could remember was telling Opera 9.25 to give me a pop up regarding web cookies. That's when I lost menu highlight.

It has happened to me as well. I couldn't find out the problem; I just lived with it.

Hasn't happened to me for a long while, though.

So far I've tried:

- Resetting PRAM
- Fixing disk permissions via Disk Utility
- Deleting finder.plist

Nothing works.

You mean it went away by itself?

No. It never went away lol

Until I reinstalled OSX, but that was for other reasons. Actually, I think this only happened to me in Tiger and 10.5.1. Since I've been on 10.5.2, I haven't had this problem.

I'm pretty convinced that the culprit is a 3rd party program, though. I haven't found out what it is, though.

I was using Opera (I think) the other time.

This time, it happened when I clicked the "bookmarks" button of Acrobat while viewing a PDF file

Updates, the menu highlight is back again.

I've tried the following:

- Resetting PRAM
- Fixing disk permissions via Disk Utility
- Deleting finder.plist
- Fixing disk permissions via Onyx
- Waited for 1 day before using the Mac again

Not sure which one solved it.

Hello,

I am sorry for answering so lately, but for me I found the solution : I just unpluged and pluged my mouse again. As someone has said it, it seems that the mouse hase gone stealth and my mac cannot recognised it on the menu... so it work for me (have a Mac mini, with 10.5.6)
