email this morning saying same thing. I ordered the 3G 3/12.
I suspect that Apple has enough iPads to meet those initial orders.

Also notices my order for the iPad Camera connection kit is prepared for shipment, that had a late April date at one time.

Pre-Orders will still ship by end of April

I just received an email from Apple shop confirming my order will be shipped by the end of April. And no, this was not the original confirmation. I just received this confirmation on April 19 at 6:34 a.m. EST.

Doubt they wouldn't. Why would they want people to have 3G's before they started actually selling them? Think of the overhead!
 
Me too. Can you imagine how many calls they got this morning for them to generate that email to all the 3G orders that fell in the late April window?

Did you preorder your iPad 3G? If so, you're still looking at a late April ship date. The May 7th date is only for new orders.

Yeah, just like they didn't hit the April 3rd date for the wifi iPad. What are you basing this on? Every preorder I've ever had with Apple has arrived when they said it would.
 
small clarification

It seems some folks here are getting "ships by" confused with "delivers by". :apple: have been explicit about this differentiation during the Wi-Fi iPad launch. So it wouldn't be too much of a stretch that those same principles would apply here for the 3G iPad. "Ships by" means the date/time frame in which said product(s) will leave the warehouse or other location and is placed in the possession of said courier (i.e. FedEx or UPS) for delivery to you (the customer). "Delivers by" is the date you (the customer) will have said product(s) in hand.

May 7th is the date/time frame for the next set of production runs to leave the warehouse to be delivered by a courier to customers or stores - as noted above. It is not the day physical examples will be in hand or in stores for purchase/pickup.

I ordered on 3/12 and haven't gotten the email yet either. But, I did change my shipping address this morning and received an e-mail confirming the change. I had it set to ship to work and changed to home. I'm taking the chance they were going to ship for delivery on Saturday and I don't work on Saturday and work is 25 miles from home. Worst case I take a day off if it ships on a week day....o shuckey darn! :D

My CC just got pre-authed for my iPad

Just looked at my Discover and the "available credit" when subtracted from my credit limit shows that a $800 charge must be pending as of today. Didn't show yesterday when I looked. Heres hoping....:D
 
This morning, the Apple online store is quoting May 7th for ship date if you order today.
