[Merged] iPad 3G Ship Rumors

I just ordered a Car charger for my iPad and usually I get a confirmation right away, like in under 1 minute. It has been 15 and nothing still. I guess their servers are being hammered with status updates. 😱

I ordered Mar 12, 2010 at 10:02 PM PDT >> 2 - 32GB 3G versions. I also have no letter or charge on credit card. 🙁

Nice. I'm more of a chicken and pasta kinda guy while my fiancé rocks it old school with the strictly pasta/cheese combo. She doesnt like meat with her pasta for some reason.

Okay, I ordered on 3/12/10, I received the confirmation of the fact that my order will be shipped "Late April" this morning, and now I have a pending transaction (w/ Chase Bank) for the total cost of the Ipad 3g + accessories.

How long before my order is shipped ?
 
3G Ipad charged

Yep, my card just got charged for the 3g Ipad I ordered on opening day. Got my fingers crossed for a delivery date before the week is up!

I tried to get apple on the phone to answer that question and of course I got the coined answer "all we have is it ships late April." So here is what I found on their site. But of course the ipad is special.. 🙂

We keep you informed

Shortly after you place your order, you will receive an Order Acknowledgement email to confirm your order details, including shipping and delivery estimates for each item. Once your item has prepared for shipment and ships, you will receive a Shipment Notification email with carrier and tracking information.

You can visit online Order Status 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to view the most up-to-date status of your order.

If you're shipping your order to someone else, you may want Apple to let them know that something special is on the way. During checkout, simply enter the recipient's email address in the "Email Address (optional)" field of the Shipping module. The email will display product, carrier, and tracking information, but will not include pricing and payment details.

Shipping and delivery estimates

The ‘Ships’ timeframe is an estimate of when the item will prepare for shipment and ship from our warehouse. The items on your order will ship as they become available.

The ‘Delivers’ timeframe is an estimate of when the item will be delivered to your shipping address after it ships. The estimated delivery time depends on the shipping method you choose during checkout.

All estimates are based on business days.
 
IPad 3G billed to my CC

Hey like all of you, I'm waiting to get my 3G like a giddy little school girl. I just figured I would posting saying I got the email, order 3/31/10, and just now my CC was billed for the amount. I wouldnt imagine Apple holding your money for a week plus before sending it out. My bet would be this weekend, but we will know for sure tomorrow after the Q2 meeting.
 
Order the 32g on March 12, in the evening; just got the magical email. They have processed my AppleCare purchase; no credit card charge as of this morning.

Did you use a credit card or a check card with visa or mastercard logo and run it like credit? Trying to see if an actual credit card is show up also or is it just for checking account transactions.
 
FWIW I have now received emails for both of the 3G's I ordered - one the second the keynote went live, the other a few days later.
 
I used a debit card. The charge is there, but I just checked my order with Apple and it's still listed as "Late April"

I ordered something from another company and had to be put on back order. I asked them to keep the money and just send it when it came in... they told me that law does not allow. They can not hold money and not ship. Which tells me shipping will be soon. However, what I do not know from that other company is how long is reasonable to charge before shipping within the law. Just wanted to share that bit with you all. To give us more hope it is going out very soon... 😉
 
Anybody with an AmEx seeing a charge posted/pending? I ordered on 3/12 at 7:30am PDT and no charge yet. I did get the magical email this morning, though, that mine is still on schedule for the ambiguous "late April."
 
Expedited shipping?

So here's a question in a slightly different direction. What's the deal with the priority shipping?

When I pre-ordered my 64gb 3G iPad I paid the extra $13 for expedited shipping.

Throughout this thread I've seen several people mention that they've noticed their shipping status has switched to priority (which is what mine also shows, though I hadn't been watching it before today.) Did those folks pay the extra $13 as well, or is everyone getting priority shipping now?

I'm not going to whine about $13 when I've dropped over a grand into this product, but I am curious. Part of me hates to think I paid extra to expedite shipping on a case and stand I wasn't going to be able to use for several weeks. 😀

Here's the fun part. I've had a charge pending since last week for $14.01 from Apple Online Store. The only thing I can associate this to is that expedited shipping cost plus my state sales tax (which is pretty high in Washington State. It's cool though, we don't have a state income tax.)

The $14.01 showed as pending as of last Thurs or Fri...and still does. My Wells Fargo site shows the date as 4/19 now, but it was definitely there last week. I got psyched as it seemed to me that it was a good sign that shipping was imminent. Alas, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Analysis data: Preorder 3/12 2:17pm Pacific. Magical mail received. Account not yet charged for device, just this 'magical' shipping charge.

I received the email, but not the CC charge. FWIW, I also ordered the Wi-Fi model, and I received it on launch day. Possibly encouraging news for those of you getting charged today: Apple ran the charge for my launch day iPad on March 29th, the Monday before launch day. So, perhaps this week is solid.

I noticed the same as you. I got the standard and now it says priority. I called apple this morning (I wanted to upgrade) early and the apple man told me that that there was only one shipping method available for the ipad - priority. The same thing happened for the wi-fi version. The news reported (can not remember which news) that all those that paid the extra expedited shipping - got their money back. I am just telling you what I heard. Hope this helps... a little anyways.

So that tells me another thing... since there is only one shipping method... here is a quote from the article above.... Is there going to be a bulk release date for this version of the ipad as well. They are referring to the expedited shipping charges reimbursed.

"Since all iPad Wi-Fi deliveries will occur on the same day, the more expensive shipping option made no sense. Nice to see Apple making right one that, isn’t it?"

HUMMMM....
