Anybody have a Citi card charged yet? Should I be expecting another wonderful phone call from their fraud dept. asking me to verify that I actually made this purchase?

I wonder how many will get their ipads late due to fraud protection?

Everyone should call their banks to let them know to approve any charges and preauths

Chase card here that still hasn't been hit but I have had that issue with Apple purchases always triggering the fraud alert (except for the one time it was actually a fraudulent purchase). I called Chase today to let them know there will probably be a big charge to the card sometime in the next couple weeks, keeps it from triggering the fraud detector. Oddly enough, it didn't get triggered for the Heat Pump system I charged to the card last week but it would have been on even a moderate size Apple purchase.

Thanks, but I don't think you understood what I was getting at.

I was trying to answer a question about why AT&T would not offer an Unlimited Data Plan that would cover both an iPad and an Iphone for one $30 fee. Again, it could be because the iPad and iPhone could be used at the same time by two people in the same family or...the iPad could be sold and used by the buyer with an agreement that the seller would leave it on his data plan thereby "cheating" AT&T. I don't see how your answer has anything to do with what i was talking about, since what I was talking about has nothing to do with tethering or with Wifi-only iPads.

Point taken.

To address yours more directly - I think more than enough time has been given to AT&T to upgrade their poor, tired, expensive network. If I pay for one data plan at $30, this is quite enough to pay for an iPad-iPhone tether-pair, in my view. I certainly wouldn't be datasurfing them on AT&T's network simultaneously.

However, if I were somehow inclined to do so, I'm not at all sympathetic toward a company who doesn't seem to have a problem with unlimited text plans across multiple phones. It seems to me AT&T loses more money and resources from accounts with active family share text plans than from someone who wanted to tether an iPad to the iPhone. But let's explore this ... For all their whining about bandwidth, they sure don't seem to care very much about all those jail-broken phones exploiting their precious data network. And what of the scores of other non-Apple 3G data devices in use throughout their network?

AT&T isn't the victim here and I hope Apple will do more to affect some change - particularly now - with carrier discussions in the air ...

... Yes, Apple is in a position to "influence" AT&T. In fact, they do this alot with EVERYONE. They're widely known as a company that likes to manipulate other companies...

Good. Hopefully they'll get around to proving your premise with AT&T before my contract expires.

Oh yeah - Apple's a blameless little angel. From the Apple iPad site:

Can I use my current iPhone service plan with the iPad?
No. The cellular plan for iPhone is separate from the iPad plan.

It seems to me if Apple truly was interested, they'd have leveraged AT&T to allow tethering via the phone. There is absolutely nothing but greed I can discern as reason to deny the feature to the iPhone subscribers. The unlimited data plan should include iPad usage. Period. Forgive my angst, but it would not surprise me if Apple inked some deal to receive a percentage of the data plan subscriber fees.

You live in a capitalistic society....period. Upper management's for either company is to maximize profits. It's easy to sit here and proclaim what ATT should do or what they should allow with their data plans when you don't have to worry about shareholders or analysts. You could classify every corporation in the world as "greedy". Is Verizon greedy? How about Microsoft? What about the NFL? Where do you draw the line?

If you were really concerned about how greedy Apple and ATT are you wouldn't continue to buy their products & services. But wait, who really cares about greed as long as you get your new ipad....right?? ;)

Ipad

My CC shows a Pre charge from APL*APPLEONLINESTOREUS for $4.00. I have the 64gig 3G preordered and the Camera Connector Kit.

Just checked my order. It shoes $4.00 shipping on the Camera Connector.

Purchasing my iPad apps NOW

Don't see the charge on my debit card yet, but I've begun purchasing and downloading the iPad apps that I'm eagerly looking forward to, so that they will sync and be ready when I first boot up the iPad. (They won't show up on the iPhone, but are listed in your apps purchases. Yes, I know this is a lot of extra money, but if I don't buy them today, I'll buy them within a couple days of the iPad's arrival.)

I post little, but lurk a lot. That's great news to hear that CCs are getting charged.

On a side note, I have to comment, am I the only one who thinks it's ironic that DELLsFan is complaining about greed in the same sentence where he wines about not getting something for free.

DELL, you agreed to the charge for the 3G connection on your phone. You signed up for 3G on your phone (I said it again incase you missed it). You did not agree to pay for 3G on your phone AND your iPad. Why do you think AT&T should just GIVE it to you on your iPad for free?

Should they give you free WiFi at your home too? What about your wife? Your children? Your parents? Should they all get free 3G on all of their devices because you pay for it on your phone? Where does it end?

The beauty of capitalism is that if you think a company is taking advantage of people, you can start a new company and treat the consumers better. Since your offering will so clearly be better, you'll quickly gain 100% of the market and make a killing. So, why not start DELLsFan wireless? I think we all know that the answer is because you don't know squat about running a wireless company and would go broke trying it. Unfortunately you don't know that...actually the unfortunate part isn't that you don't realize, I don't care if you don't realize it or not, the only unfortunate part is that it doesn't stop you from posting erroneous grievances.

I've found the answer!

My charge finally posted. This is hardly an unusual post, but after scouring this thread all day I felt a kinship with the folks here and I needed to share.

Thanks for that cathartic moment.

NOW, the important part. I figured out how to make the charge show up. Click the mouse button EXTRA HARD when you refresh the browser window! Now, you may have to do this every 5 minutes for a few hours, but it will work! Trust me, I'm a certified IT professional. :D

Can't wait to get my device!

Edit: Paid on a Wells Fargo Debit Visa.

I did the same thing a week ago.

Dear Apple,

Please charge my bank account. If you need to take more money over what I need for the 3G 16gig, please do so. If you just kinda want more money, you can take it as well. I'm sure you'll end up having it anyway.

If that does not satisfy you, you may take any of my upcoming birthdays as well. Christmas is also on the table.

Sincerely,

Lee

I just made the order 5 minutes ago ... 64 GB. Seems like the majority of people are ordering the 64 GB on this forum... I'm hoping I will slide into the late April bunch... probably not though.

:D I'm sure it will happen soon Lee, we're pulling for you. It's ok, we're all iPadaholics, and we have a problem! ;)

Don't worry Bierp, we're right there with you. That's what this forum seems like for the most part, a kinship. That's some great professional advice as well!

I think this is great.... getting just the charges all in one post.

Seriously, who cares if you've been charged. I don't know you. I don't care if you bought the 16 or 64 GB version, I don't care what credit card you have, or where you live.

I just want to know when the thing is going to ship, I mean, c'mon.
