I had mine under a blackberry plan for 3 days and then the internet stopped working. I went to T-Mobile and they had to change my internet to all internet add on so it would work with the iPhone...

Its funny that T-Mobile has iphone support.

Call T-Mobile and say PDA and they'll connect you, eventually you'll get to an iphone specialist. The guy I talked to even know exactly what to put in the settings for swirly, he asked me "you have swirly, right?" when I asked him for the MMS settings.

Yes. There is but, you have to be on a Sidekick Data prepaid plan. If you dont, go out and get a new sim card from t-mobile for about $10 and activate with a sidekick data prepaid plan, even if you don't have a sidekick. It gives you unlimited internet and txts for $1 a day. so, roughly $30-31 a month. I have it that plan on my iPhone 3G and it works like a charm. :) good luck. PM me if you have any questions.
 
Questions about iphone and Tmobile

Here's my situation.

I am a T-mobile customer and my contract is up at the end of the month. Currently I have the 1000 min plan for 39.99 with a generic Motorola phone. I also have 400 text msgs for 4.99. I definitely want to upgrade when my contract is done.

So I will probably stick to the 1000 min plan for 39.99 but want to get the unlimited plan. I was considering getting the unlocked jailbroken Iphone. A friend suggested that I call t-mobile and get their 9.99 data plan which includes internet/email and unlimited text msgs. Then once its working on my generic Motorola phone, then I can switch the SIM into an Iphone and I should be able to get internet/email and unlimited text msgs on the Iphone as well.

So....my question is that would the above actually work?? And also the 9.99 data plan...whats it called?? is it the web2go...cuz online its shows that plan for 19.99. Is tmobile giving it to ppl who are asking for it/mentioning it?? So my total bill for Tmobile would come out to around 50 bucks...which is kinda where I want to stay.

Any help would be appreciated.

If that works for you, please let me know. The cheapest plan i could muster was $65- $40 for the 300 minute myfaves, $5 for 400 texts, and $20 for data.

I basically have the same plan as you but i have the $9.99 for 1000 texts and $5.99 T-Zones i just got a couple of months ago (eventhough T-Mobile discontinued it). I also have the Freelancers Union discount which takes about 10% I think from my bill.

So overall I pay about $56 a month using my iPhone. Full internet service, IM's and everything else.

But im thinking about taking that discount out because its holding me back from getting that unlimited minutes plan for $49.99.
 
APN to get T-Mobileweb data plan to work?

I am on a corporate plan that is setup with unlimited T-Mobileweb and BlackBerry Unlimited w/Enterprise E-mail Add-on. I have a 2g iPhone and I can get the little E indicating that I'm connected to EDGE, but I can't get Internet at all. I've put in epc.tmobile.com, wap.voicestream.com, wap2.voicestream.com, internet2.voicestream.com, but nothing works. Is there any way to get internet on my 2g phone?

Well I tried one last thing and I'm not sure if it is what did it but it appears to have worked. I logged into tmobile with my phone # and set my phone to a SIM card and then the epc.tmobile.com APN setting worked. I'm stoked. Hopefully this helps someone else.
 
What's the APN for the Sidekick $1/day plan?

wap.voicestream.com works for me with a T-mobile blackberry SIM. No password.

I did notice recently after applying the 3.0 firmware that it took 2-3 minutes for the APN setting to start working. A few times it did say cannot connect, but then started working.
 
Working now on GPRS...

Hi,

I have the hiptop APN working, but seems to be only GPRS. Is that a function of my area or is there a setting on my account that needs to change? I'm on a Pay as you Go SIM, Sidekick plan.

Nevermind - drove up the road and got the 'E'. No problems. Now I just need to wean myself from 3G...it comes in handy for Skype, etc when WIFI is not available....
 
Hi everyone, I just wanted to add that I have a 3G Iphone on T-Mobile. To get the internet working, I used epc.tmobile.com as the APN.

I'm paying $25 for unlimited internet. Is there anything cheaper?
 
as far as the edge in your area, i would recommend downloading sb settings from cydia it lets you swipe the top of your iphone and brings down a menu to let you turn on/off services i often have to turn edge off and on for it to work again

as far as visual voicemail, 99.9% sure im that that is only for att someone correct me if im wrong though.

and for cheaper internet: i think $25 is the cheapest for unlimited internet. i have the 5.99 tzones web which is now the 9.99 data plan but that plan has megabyte restrictions.

yeah, visual voicemail is only for at&t. kind of a bummer, it's so cool to use...

and as for the 9.99 data plan, it is limited, but honestly, i checked with the company to see what the data cap is.

the data cap for the 9.99 plan is 10 GB per month. I've been monitoring and using EDGE frequently for almost 3 weeks now as a test, including downloading apps, using google maps, internet access, and i've barely hit 2 GB. I think the 9.99 plan is your best bet when it comes to EDGE, because it's cheap and you have a decent sized data cap, provided you don't tether your computer for a ridiculously long time.
 
Has anyone gotten PUSH to work on an unlocked iPhone 3G on 3.0? I REALLY want to be able to see them. xP

In 3.0, there's push apps, where you can get push notifications, like AIM and Associated Press. It'll bring up an SMS-style window.

When I got safari and type in yahoo.com

It goes to the tmobile website and says I need to upgrade data plans. Does this mean I have to get the $24.99 data plan??

Weird, it doesnt do that to me and i have the $5.99 data plan.
 
The system has caught up - I lost data connectivitiy with the 9.99 web2go plan

I have been using the unlocked iPhone 3g for a few months now with the 9.99data plan with the APN being internet2.voicestream.com. Yesterday afternoon all of a sudden internet connectivity was lost and accessing any website would take me to this T-Mo page that says my data plan is not compatible with the device and I need to upgrade. I changed the APN to everything else listed on this thread but no luck. I did upgrade to software / firmware 3.0 on the iPhone 3g recently but that has got nothing to do with it because it was working for a few days up until yesterday.

I got T-Mo tier-3 technical support and they told me that the system has caught up - towers are being updated to send out signals to devices that are not on the right plan. I called today again and said "PDA" to the automated system and was taken to some other customer service department, although similar answer - obviously now I am screwed because every new customer rep can see the notes that say that I am on the wrong plan for the device, but the answer was that they are upgrading their systems to find users who have devices without the right 24.99 smart phone internet plan. The system is finding out now what it should have found out months earlier.

Any suggestions on what I can do? Anybody else run into this?
