Messages displaying disjointedly, some not at all

Have to say, I have never seen this before.

iPhone4S on 6.0.1. No updates made prior to this occurring.

Messages are being displayed on top of each other or not at all within individual messages.

Screenshots are attached.

Troubleshooting so far has involved restarting and changing the font size to smaller. Fixes momentarily but then goes back.
